Deaths reported in Dec 1945 included: Mrs J D (Angie SMITH) BOWMAN, 69 and Isaac Decatur GENTRY, 76, Charles TAYLOR (about 60) of Lafayette IN and Ellen (EVANS) MYERS, of Amarillo TX. July 1945: Pvt Ovile WILLIAMS was wounded near Manilla 10 May and died in the hospital the following day. He was almost 19 yrs old, youngest son of M/M Allen V WILLIAMS of Route 2 Summer Shade; he lived in T'ville. A former Monroe Co, S/Sgt Warren Franklin TOOLEY, drowned at Okinawa on 28 June. Cleaning up Old Mulkey planned and for setting a monument in memory of Rev. W.E. THOMAS during a public meeting at the courthouse on 24 July. The site has been neglected since the death of Thomas and "Uncle Sam" CHISM. The Ky Park Commission said that Old Mulkey was to be abandoned unless local people showed more interest.
