SELF, John, VA S31358. Lived in Cumberland Co 10 Sept 1832, age 70 when filed for pension. Born Amelia Co VA 1762; enlisted in Buckingham Co VA Jan 1780. Moved to KY 1789. Came to Cumberland Co 1809. Fellow soldier, Philip WINFREY of Adair Co KY made affadavit 12 Sept 1832. SCOTT, John, VA W3046. Living in Cumberland Co 13 May 1829 when making application, age 68. His widow whose maiden name was Sophia MURRY/MURREY filed her claim for widow's pnsion in 1848 at age 92. Fellow soldier Solomon PREWETT made affadavit in Cumberland Co 13 May 1829, he age 89. Knew soldier in VA. Also Joshua WATSON who married Nancy MURREY, sister of Sophia on 21 Nov 1799 made affadavit for Sophia SCOTT. THURMAN, Charles, VA S31314. Lived in Cumberland Co 13 Nov 1829, age 62. Enlisted Henrico Co VA, Richmond in Feb 1777. In 1820 had 2 daughters, youngest about 5. Fellow soldier John R THURMAN made affadavit in Cumberland Co 30 July 1828, knew soldier in VA. Also William SMITH and John SCOTT on same date and Philip LAWSON on same date. AMYX, Matthew Sr, VA S6501. Soldier made declaration for pension in Cumberland Co 9 Nov 1827. Served under Henry PAULDING in regt commanded by Col CLARK. Reason for moving to KY what that his son, Matthew Jr had moved there and he wished to live with his son. In 1826 he had made application for pension in same county and states that he served under Capt PAULDING and Col Charles LYNCH in the service of the US; his name was first place on the pension rolls of VA from where he had moved about 8 years ago. Formerly drew pension in Richmond from 4 Sept 1821 to Sept 1825. On 9 Nov 1827 Andrew McCRARY and Richard LAMB made affadavid that they knew the soldier; the same person who drew his pension in VA; had left his pension certificate with Mr.GRIFFIN of Botetourt Co who is now dead. Two doctors made affadavits in Cumberland Co in 1829 - Dr Joel OWSLEY and Dr M L STONER - soldier is an invalid caused by a wound in the shoulder by a ball. To be continued next with with BAKER.
