    3. These papers are a lot different from the old ones. There is normaly a 50 yrs ago, a 25 yrs ago and a 10 yrs ago. I will show the highlights of the 50 and 25. The week of 19 thru 26 Dec 1946 showed the following news: Only deaths reported were Cecil E SPEARS and wife Vernie in Louisville KY. Lions Club had a banquet in Oct, report issued. Dr J M DOWNING was the president of this new club. County agent was J L ELLIS. 4-H Champions were Evelyn BOWMAN in sewing, Dean RHOTON in canning and Gertrude HUME in poultry. During the week of Dec 1-21 1971 the following deaths were reported: Broner McPHERSON 80 of T'ville, Mary Flora (BROWN) WALKER, 82 of Rt 2 T'ville, Ruie May (DICKERSON) BARTLEY 79 and Annie Mae (HOOD) HEADRICK, 68, both of Rt 5 T'ville, Hovie TURNER 74 of Mud Lick, Nannie Margie (HALE) BURFORD 93 and George Neal PATTERSON, 57, both of Gamaliel, Betty Ellen (EMBERTON) FORD, 68 of Rt 1 Gamaliel, Grover Franklin CRABTREE 79 of Glasgow, Addie Mae (LEMMONS) WALDEN 83 of Morehead, Annie (CARTER) LEE of Portland TN (no age shwon), and Hester TURNER 68 of Dayton OH. William R "Bill" BUSHONG, s/o Dr and Mrs Wm R Bushong, selected to play in the North-South All-Star game in Miami; 1st time a native KY'ian has received this honor. He is a senior at the University of KY, defensive tackle. Gillia RAY, a junior at T'ville High School, d/o Mr and Mrs. Bobby RAY, won the annual county Soil Conservation essay contest; poster contest winner was Charlotte STRODE, a 3rd grade student of T'ville Elementary and d/o Mr and Mrs Charlie STRODE. Dec 5-12, 1946: S T HAGAN of T'ville received 1st place in the statewide Tom Wallace Forestry Award program. He owns a 650-acre farm with his grandson, Gene ROWLAND near Flippin. Disastrous fire at Celina Sat night, 30 Nov. Entire block of the square was gutted except one room on the corner. All buildings were modern (1939 built). Fire started when 2 men engaged in a fight over some fencing and cow pasture upset an oil stove in the Pam-Am Service Stations. Destroyed were the Celena Hardware Co, Travelers' Lodge, Pam-Am Cafe, Celina Cafe, Clay Co Trustee's office, Tri-County Electric Membership office, County Agent's Office, AAA office, Farm Security Office, Soil Conservation Office, Home Demonstration Agent's office and the office of the local Draft Board. T'ville HIgh School basketball team has won 2 out of 3 games; coach was Darraell CARTER who is using in his first team Jackie MILLER, John ELLIS, Robert CONKIN, Tommie BRAYANT and Joe Bernard MILLER. Dec 2-9, 1971: Gov Louie B NUNN announced a new power boat will be installed at McMillin's Landing on the Cumberland River in Monroe Co. T'ville High School was in the Inaugural Parade at Frankfort on 1/27; 45 band members under direction of Rhoda RISNER.
