While everyone was shooting off fireworks and enjoying a picnic, I kept busy. As you know I am working on a series of books on the land grants in south central Kentucky. I finished two more, with the final one coming soon - on Warren Co. Note that these aren't just military land grants - they are all the grants. The information below is for Cumberland County and Green County. All the counties I'm researching tie in together and you will likely find one of your ancestors dipping his toes in a creek in one county and find him later in another county as the State divided up the counties. Much can be learned from these grants - families that all chose land close to each other in the same time frame; two men who went in together to get land ... so many familiar names. Not indexed; book is self-indexing. Green County, KY Land Grants. The most critical of counties for south central Kentucky research, Green County was formed in 1793 from Lincoln and Nelson Counties. It is the parent or grandparent of many other counties and many of the names found there will later appear in other counties in the area. Approximately 1,400 land grants are listed. This book follows the pattern of the other books in this series and also includes progressive maps as other counties are split off. 31 pages plus many pages of additional information. Self-indexing.
