Dan's father had two uncles, brothers William and James Louis Lee, who fought in the Civil War - William for the South, James for the North. We've been told they were both at Shiloh. They came home, lived close to each other, and it's said, never discussed the War. My mother's youngest brother, First Lt. William Berry O'Brien, was killed in France on Armistice Day, November 11, 1944, with Patton's Third Army. He was 31. My family goes back to the Revolutionary War with my g-g-g-grandfather, Thomas Kennedy; War of 1812 - g-g-grandfather Daniel Kennedy; Civil War - several Kennedys; WWI an uncle, Lee Herring. We both have several other Revolutionary soldiers in our families. Dan was in the Army from 1946 to 1948, in Japan in the Army of Occupation. We honor all these men today. Thanks, Dan and Alice Lee
