She now lives in Monroe Co and W. T. lives in Cass Co. MO, a non-resident of KY. They lived together as man and wife until 1 Oct 1888 at which time he forced her to separate from him by his cruel and inhuman treatment - have been apart since. She treated him as a kind and affectionate wife, faithful to him. They had a boy born 8 Sept 188-, named Ernest H. Emberton; she has had his entire care and custody of him. She says that she is entitled to this. She prays for a divorce, maintenance from the defendant and that she be given custody and care of the child. She also wishes to regain her maiden name of Eddie F. Gerald and all proper relief. Richardson & Spear were her attorneys. Depositions: John H. Gerald, taken 8 Dec 1893 at his home. 69 years old, farmer, resides Monroe Co, knows the plaintiff - she is his daughter. Had seen the defendant. Not sure where he lives but had seen letters from him written from MO. Parties married July 1887, separated about Apr 1888. He left her and went to Kansas and in a short time she went after him. She returned alone about the 5th or 6th of October 1888. Have one child, a son five years old on 5 Sept 1893. She has taken care of the child; defendant hasn't provided anything. His daughter is a school teacher since the child was 6 months old. W. L. Smith, taken same time and place. 35 years old, lives in Mud Lick, Monroe Co. Knew both parties. Same statements as above, had lived 3/4ths of a mile from the parties when they were married. Said she was well fit to take care of the child. Again - no disposition found.
