    3. The Circuit Court of Warren Co met next on Tuesday the 5th of Sept 1797. Burwell JACKSON, John SHANNON and John HALL, Esquires, were present. Now, Warren Co had just been formed and they were establishing their judges, surveyors, doctors, ministers, etc. etc. Will BLACKBURN and Robt. COLEMAN both produced licenses from the Judges of the Court of Appeals and after taking the required oaths were allowed to practice law. J JONES was enpowered to take a subpoena in order to take the depositions of Thomas GIBSON and Thomas KELLY of South Carolina in Pendleton Co KY. A bill of sale recorded from REESE (no first shown) to McFADIN as witnessed by two witnesses and was ordered to be recorded. A deed from ROGERS to ROGERS with the certificates - the deed was from the Clerk of Caroline County and the Presiding Judge of that county. Several cases were heard including: Commonwealth vs Christian WINKFIELD (dismissed), same vs Geo SUGGS & John HOBBS (dismissed), same vs Edmund COVINGTON & John ANDERSON (same), same vs McFADIN & BOONE (same) and same vs LUCAS (same). HUGHES vs FRAYZER dismissed; depositions of James FISHER & James WHITE (defendants) who live in Sumner Co TN - depositions to be taken by David WILSON, James RICE and James WINCHESTER (any two). O'NEAL vs HARRINGTON; Jacob BOZMAN posted special bail. Court was then adjourned until the next day. They met on the 6th, same Justices. Robert HAMILTON produced his license from the Court of Appeals to practice as an Attorney At Law, took oaths, etc. The following cases were heard: RUSSELL vs GORIN - dismissed at plaintiff's costs; PATTERSON vs BOZMAN, same; FRAYZER vs HUGHES, case continued at Defendant's cost and HADDIN vs BULLER, same. ODAM vs BARNES; jury seated which included: John COOK, Thomas BALLOW (BARLOW?), Robert KING, James STUART, Gladden GORIN, Thomas CHAPMAN, Saml. COX, Andrew ALEXANDER, and Vincent ANDERSON. Found for the defendant. Joel SUGGS made motion along with Charles BARNS who were defendants in the case of ODAM vs BARNS, etc. Ordered that Joel & Charles be exempt from the suit and suit dismissed. Court adjourned.
