    1. [SCKY] MONROE CO - DENHAM DIVORCE
    2. Sandi Gorin via
    3. Plaintiff: Virginia B. DENHAM Defendant: William J DENHAM Date: 9 Nov 1899 File: 331 Virginia stated that they were married in Monroe Co in 189- (date not completed); lived as husband and wife until - date not filled in. He left her and ceased to live with her. She had behaved herself and was a faithful and dutiful wife - giving him no cause to leave. He had a settled aversion to her as to destroy her peace and happiness. He neglected her, abused her and was guilty of such acts to indicate an outrageous temper giving probable danger to her or great bodily harm. Both parties still lived in Monroe Co. She stated that he owned a horse, two calves, three hogs, 2 saddles, about 40 bushels of corn and about 400-500 binds of fodder and about 1,000 pounds of Pea Hay. Also household and kitchen furniture. (Note: $ amounts were not filled in). She had reason to believe that he would remove his property or sell to defeat her claim for alimony and maintenance. She asked for an attachment to be issued against him to prevent this. She prayed for a divorce and that her maiden name of Virginia B. Capshaw be returned to her. An injunction was issued against William of 9 Nov 1899 but - no resolution was found in the packet. Note: As I mentioned before, there was a standard wording used in divorce cases charging the other party - sometimes sounding really harsh but the attorney wanted to win the case for his client.
