    3. Maybe I do know the outcome...In 1926, Nancy refers to her husband as Henderson Geralds, " Article from the Tompkinsville News sent by Elizabeth Emberton Bailey On Dec.26, 1926, the writer visited the home of Mr. Isaac Proffit, ex- sheriff of Monroe Co., near Tompkinsville, sat by the bed side of is mther-in-law, Mrs. Nancy T. Geralds (formerly called Fitzgeralds), widow of Henderson Geralds, and now 91 years old, having been born in Monroe County, Ky, November 3, 1835, and received from her the following facts which relate to many of the old resident-families of more than half a century ago in Monroe County, Kentucky. Nancy T. Geralds was the daughter of Kitty and James L. Greenup, a popular preacher of his day. She is the mother of twelve children - four of whom are now living--namely: Mrs. Jo Ann Devaser, James L. Gerald, Miss Eddie Gerald, and Mrs. Sarah Proffit. She now has living fifteen grand children, and nineteen gr-grandchildren. Her paternal ancestors came here from South Carolina and her maternal ancestors from East Tennesee and located in Monroe Co., Ky. in the later part of the 17 th century. The mother of Barton Hestand and old Aunt Polly Moore were sisters of Rev. James L. Greenup. Mrs. Geralds mother, Kitty Greenup, was a sister of Melvina Boles, Aunt Polly Mars, Malinda McMurtry, Sarah Ann Johnson, Elcana, John, Washington, William Leander and Wesley Hammer. Her husband, Henderson Geralds, was a son of Akin Geralds who was a brother of M----e Jones, wife of Malin Jones, the father and mother of Sallie Jones Gum, who was the father and mother of Bettie Gum- Eubank, Adalade Gum- Railey, and Sarah Ellen Gum-High. Akin Geralds and Ruby Geralds were brothers of Mollie Jones, wife of Malin Jones, who were the great maternal grand parents of the writer. Akin Geralds, wife, before her marriage, was Jane Colley, but she was affectionately called" Jincy" , and they were the parents of James, George, Jesse, Henderson, Akin, Samuel, Barton, Jasper, Millie, Malinda, Mary, Eddie, Jane and Martha Geralds. Ruby Geralds married Mollie Hunt, and they were the parents of Jesse, Akin, Martha, George, John Sabrie and Polly Geralds. The decendants of these old pioneers are now more or less distantly related to nearly all the prominent and less prominent families now living in Monroe County, besides the hundreds and hundreds of othes who now reside in other sections of the United States. Those have contributed liberally to all the wars of the past century. Mrs. Nancy T. Geralds, the woman who furnished to your scribe this data is the mother of the first person, a child, that was buried at the Bethlehem Cemetery, in Monroe County. The child was born October the 12th, 1855, and was named Kittie. It died the following January 4th, and was buried January 5th, 1856. The second person buried in this cemetery was Samuel Geralds, and third was Eli Keen with in two years after the burial of the child--thus starting the Bethlehem Cemetery, which has since grown to be one of the largest in Southern Kentucky and affording a sacred resting place for hundreds nipped by times re--- (could not find the rest of the article) On Mon, Dec 22, 2014 at 11:43 AM, Randy Jobe <jrandyjobe@gmail.com> wrote: > And ... no resolution in the file packet!
