From the Lexington (KY) Herald, Tuesday, 2 April 1907, Volume 37, issue 92, page 3. "PEACEMAKER KILLED. James Dilly Shot in Mouth in Trying to Stop Fight - Son Wounded in Arm. EDMONTON, KY., April 1. - James Dilly was shot and instantly killed near Wisdom, Metcalfe county, while acting as peacemaker and endeavoring to prevent a fight in which his son, Bada Dilly, had previously been shot in the arm. Blaine Pierce is accused of firing both shots, and will be arrested when he is located, but thus far he has not been apprehended. "The details of the killing are not definitely known here. It is reported that Pierce and another man, whose name is not known here, became involved in a difficulty in front of Dilly's home. Young Dilly went down to where they were and endeavored to quiet the trouble, it is said, when he was shot in the arm, the bullet breaking the bone. The elder Dilly then went to the road, where the men were standing, and was shot through the mouth, being instantly killed." From the same paper, Thursday, 4 April 1907, volume 37, issue 94, page 6: "ALLEGED SLAYER ARRESTED GLASGOW, Ky., April 3. - Blaine Pierce, who, it is said, killed Jim Dilly near Wisdom, in Metcalfe county, Sunday afternoon, was captured near Beckton in the southern part of this county."
