And personal note - Henry and Gladin Gorin were brothers of John Gorin who founded Glasgow; Henry being my daughters' ancestor. HADDIN vs BULLER (Butler?) Jury seated which was made up of Robt. KING, John COX, Henry GORIN, James CAMPBELL, Gladin GORIN, Freeman JONES, Phinus COX, Geo. A. SUGG, William ANDERSON, Vincent ANDERSON, John EUSTES and John MOBLEY. Will HADDIN vs Isaac BULLER. Plantiff called to prosecute his case - didn't appear he is "nonsuited". (I assume this meant dismissed). Edward STAPLETON and wife - each are entitled to pay for three days in this above suit. Also to be paid are: Parminum PALMORE (2 days); Will McHENRY (4 days), John MILLER (3 days), Isaac MILLER (3 days), Thos. LOWERY (3 days) and Phinus COX (2 days). Sheriff to be paid for __ days for taking care of Negroes, cows, 6 sheep and hogs when taken by virtue of execution. Court adjourned. However, it was added the following: Harvey O'NEAL paid for 2 days for attending as witness against RAY vs KING and the same for LUCAS vs KING. Samuel COKER paid for 2 days for attending as a witness in Lucas vs WALKER. Geo A. SUGG paid for 2 days in HADDIN vs BULLER. Another jury appointed to be sworn in tomorrow at 10 o'clock: John COX, Geo. A SUGG, Samuel McFADIN, Arvin YOUNGBLOOD, John STUART, Obediah CHISUM, Levey CASY, Zachariah MORIS, Dennis DUNNUM, Thos. AERINGTON, Joseph CAMPBELL, Samuel MEANS, Jarvin CAMPBELL. Court met on 7 Feb 1798, present John SHANNON and John HALL. John POSEY vs James SHAW & William SHAW. Execution of case stayed for 3 months. Jury from yesterday returned and gave their verdicts: Commonwealth vs Thos. CHAPMAN and Commonwealth avs Charles LUCAS - both dismissed. Edwin L HARRIS in the suit James BAILY vs James SHAW. Judgment confessed by Defendant according to bond, stay of execution for 3 months. Geo. FRAZER vs Jessie HUGHS - dismissed at defendant's cost. STUARAT vs CHAPMAN - subpoena to take deposition of John WHITSITT in Sumner Co TN after giving notice to the defendant. Judgment of Danl WALKER to Richard WALKER. Admitted to Richard on his coming into court and acknowledging it to be his act and deed. Dismissed until 10 am tomorrow.
