    1. [SCKY] JUST HOW MANY POSTS?

    3. I appreciate very much your feed back on the puzzlers. I am trying to continue with them and was questioned as to why I could consider discontinuing them. It got me to thinking. My main purpose always for the rootsweb lists I manage is to (1) help you find your ancestor and (2) teach you a little more about how it was - how it was done - what it means. As a list "mom" as we are sometimes called (or list "dad") we are not required to post anything. Many, many of the lists exist only, infrequently, with queries that are posted - the list manager just monitors. We aren't required to answer queries or put out any information. I have run these two lists differently from the beginning. I try to share what I have to help those who may never be able to come here and do their own research. So I took a look back. This is NOT to pat myself on my back but may answer the question of what I do with my time on these lists! I try to have a life outside of the computer once in awhile - but you know I don't take many breaks. I am normally on the computer 12 hours a day either working on a new book or answering queries or posting. You know that I answer your e-mails. I was shocked myself. I have been managing lists since 1994 - before rootsweb; as many of you know there were two other "groups" that ran these lists before roots web. That's 21 years. Figuring about 50 out of 52 weeks a year I'm posting data, normally 5 days a week between all the lists. To date I have posted: KYBiographies - 12,257 KYResearch - 1,119 Legends & Memories - 100 (estimated) South Central KY and KYBarren - 5,250 Queries I answer on an average of 10 a day - 10,500 (more after I post the puzzler) That brings a rough total of 29,226 posts I've made in those 21 years. Plus I contribute information to the Barren County website, and in the past contributed obituaries for Monroe, Metcalfe and Hart County (no count known). I have been told that there are more than 60,000 posts I've made over the years - the rest - scattered all over the place! This is why, occasionally, I ask about the benefit of the puzzlers. I love doing them. I know many of you just read and wait for the answer. That's ok but I hope that more of you will take a chance and guess. Again, this is not a complaint or a pat on the back. I love what I do and I try to squeeze in some "Sandi time" here and there. I share because I want to share and others have shared with me over the years. I love these lists ... there will come a time when I will have to cut back on my posting. But, I just wanted to let you know what I do and why I get tired once in awhile! :-) Please don't take this as a criticism - I'm glad you're all here!
