    3. Court met on Wednesday, 24 April 1799 - a special called session, for the examination of Charles LUCAS charged with being accessory to the death of Frederick STUMP. Judges present: Burwell JACKSON and John SHANNON. The prisoner was led to the bar in the custody of the Sheriff and it was demanded of him if he was guilty of the charge aforesaid. He said he was in nowise guilty. Various witnesses were swown in (not named) and he was examined on behalf of the Commonwealth. Then the witnesses in his behalf (not named) were heard. It was the opinion of the Court that he is not guilty of the charge and that he be discharged. On the same day a Court was again called and held at the Warren County Courthouse for the examination of William ALLIN (ALLEN) who stood charged with being an accessory to the same death. Again, witnesses were sworn in and testified against and for him. He pled not guilty. The Court decided that he was not guilty and he was discharged. The Court dissolved. /s/ Burwell Jackson.
