Many years ago, the late Eva Coe Peden copied all the cemeteries she would find in Monroe Co; her native county. She printed 2 volumes of cemetery records which I now publish. I'm sure by now that many of these little family cemeteries can no longer be found and of course, at the larger cemeteries, more burials have occurred since her transcription. For a time, I am going to do what I have been doing in Warren Co - give you the names of the peoples she had entered as buried in various Monroe Co cemeteries. I'm sure, like all of us, there might be errors here and there; it is difficult to read old stones that are covered with briars, dirt, poison ivy .. and stones might have been missed that had sunken in or covered by brush. Many times, before GPS, Eva's directions are minimal, but we owe her a great debt of gratitude for the hours she spent recording these burials. AKERS Cemetery.
