Joyce Stover mentioned in a post this morning about her writing a newspaper column for many years in Burkesville. As you know this is a difficult county for researchers due to Court house fires. I know Joyce to be a very thorough researcher and have chosen to include her the books she has available. I think they might be a great help to those researching in Cumberland. Joyce also has the following: Death Certificate Index of Cumberland County Deaths The new book from Roots and Branches Publishing is a comprehensive record of information taken from all available death certificates for Cumberland countians for the period of 1911-1953. The collection of 4127 certificates was compiled over a period of 2 years by Joyce Stover and a database was created with the basic information contained on the certificates. The entries were then supplemented by additional information as found by Joyce Stover and Joe and Mary Skipworth. The additional information is color-coded to show that it was not listed on the original document but came from other reliable sources. The book is divided into two different sorts of the information, each sort containing 115 pages. The first sort is by name of deceased. The second sort is by place of burial. Information contained in the database: name of deceased; birth date; death date; father's name; mother's name; name of spouse; sex, race and marital status; place of burial; and additions or corrections. Again, contact Joyce privately if these could help you!
