Jim, Not sure if this will be of any help to you, but here goes. The surname Van Hooser sounds very similar to the name Van Deusen, or Van Doozer or Van Duzen, plus other variations. This family were one of the original settlers of New Amsterdam (later New York state) and lived in the Albany Co area for years, from about 1630 onward.
