    1. [SCKY] IN CLOSING MONDAY, 26 MAR & PUZZLER
    2. Sandi Gorin
    3. Good morning! Monday's roll around terribly fast don't they? I wanted to share a story that makes genealogy worth it all. About a month ago, I was contacted by a gentleman in Christian Co who had found my name on one of my Gorin books owned by a lady there. This lady and I had corresponded back in the early 1970's on the Gorin clan from Christian, Logan, Warren and Todd Counties. Over the years we had lost contact and this gentleman hunted around until he found me (I was in AZ when I published the book he had). The lady had died and was an outstanding researcher. She had willed copies of all of her materials to several of the family members who she knew would take care of them This gentleman sent me a cd with two huge gedcom files of her entire research and it is really good. One thing led to another and he spoke of a young man in TN who was tremendously interested in the Gorin genealogy plus other lines resulting from marriages of the Gorin gals. They knew that I, after many years of hunting, had acquired the Henry Gorin Bible which I think every Gorin descendant knows about and has been hunting for. (A story in itself!) This young man (meaning younger than me!) called and asked if he could come visit me sometime soon to see the Bible. I agreed although I seldom handled the Bible due to its extreme age (the Bible was published about 1800). Yesterday, as I started to stretch out for a nap after church and lunch, he called and asked if they could drive up from mid TN. Well, we spent about 4 hours visiting with he, his wife and two sweet children; taking pictures, swapping stories. He knew very little of the early days of the Gorin family or how we all connected. I took them out to Glasgow Municipal Cemetery to see the graves of John Gorin here - brother of his and my daughters' line. Last night, when they returned home, he e-mailed me pictures of the Harrison cemetery which I would have never found; put me in contact with other relatives who are putting all the families together and expanded my knowledge of the Gorin daughters and their spouses. Moral of the story. A simple letter I had written in 1970 resulted 42 years later if my being given 6,000 plus new kin for the family tree (fully documented), new friends - and resulted in their branch being able to see the family Bible that had taken me 21 years to find. Don't give up!!! Sometime I'll tell you about my quest for that Bible and the most unusual place it was found! Keep looking, writing and you'll never know what your research will result it! Now - Charlie has posted the answer to last week's puzzler on the website. I told you that I was going to give you an easy one to re-kick off the puzzlers. Now this one ... most unusual! I will be in total shock if any of you get the answer and there is only one thing I am looking for. Have fun!
