    1. Thomas B Wheeler in Monroe Co KY b 1855
    2. Colleen Lill
    3. I recently came across a birth record for a Thomas B Wheeler, b 1855 in Monroe Co. Does anyone have access to a source for this record? I don't know who his parents were, so am looking for informaiton. There were other Wheelers in Monroe Co from about 1835 onward and I am connected to all of them (ie Lewis Wheeler and families). Does anyone have a connection to this Thomas B Wheeler? Thanks, Colleen Lill Canada "But a breeze passing in a still room stirs my hair now and then in soft affection. I think it is my mother." 3. OK gang - that does it. I MIGHT go ahead and make Monday's Barren Co post later today. The lady is tired ... spent all day yesterday after making my posts driving and helping my dau clean out her apartment, hauling and driving. The next few days are going to be hectic and I'm going to try to work in some "down time" to be ready for the wedding. So - unless it's an emergency, I won't be answering any emails until likely Wednesday of next week. I'll be here and monitoring but that's about it. There will not be a puzzler for next week; I'll give you extra time on the current one (2 correct answers so far out of about 50 guesses). Have a great weekend and I'll be back as soon as I recover from marrying off my last "child"! 3. If Sandi's lists don't hold their original format and come into your computer all jumbled up, and if you use Microsoft Outlook, you can put them back in order by going to the format button at the top of the page and click unwrap text, voila! the list is back in order and much easier to read! 3. Hi, I have just come across a marriage record in Monroe Co: Louis Wheeler m Sarah M Silvey Jan 15 1865 Pretty much all of my Wheelers came out of Monroe Co Ky and this Louis Wheeler is likely one of 2 men: either Lewis Wheeler b abt 1792 in TN and was married to Rhody Gentry (she died abt 1849/50); OR Lewis Wheeler b abt 1840 in Monroe Co. This second Lewis Wheeler is the grandson of the first one (his father being James Wheeler). The elder Lewis Wheeler died abt 1869 in MC. Does anyone have information about Sarah Silvey? Is there anyone on the list familiar with the surname Silvey from MC? The source of this marriage record was : Dodd, Jordan, comp. Kentucky Marriages, 1851-1900 (database online @ Ancestry.com). Thanks for any help. Colleen Lill Canada "But a breeze passing in a still room stirs my hair now and then in soft affection. I think it is my mother." D Gabaldon

    1. W E HARLIN SHOOTS ORVILLE PEDEN
    2. Sandi Gorin
    3. While posting obituaries, I came across the following which might be interest to some. I have no dates; if anyone knows, please post to the list. This came from either the Glasgow (likely Weekly) Times or the Glasgow Republican. "Glasgow Man Witness To Monroe Slaying Late Yesterday. W. E. HARLIN held on Charges of Shooting Orville Peden Near Mt Hermon. Peden Died at T-ville. "Ralph ARNOLD, local manager of the D T BOHON store here, was the only witness to a shooting yesterday afternoon about five o'clock near Mt. Hermon, twenty miles East of Glasgow, that cost the life of Orville T. Peden, 60 year old farmer. He was shot by WIll E. hARLIN, 50 year old farmer, who lives on the place adjoining that of PEDEN and former partner of F D JORDAN in the owner- ship of the Gulf Refining Company agency at Glasgow. "The eye witness stated that he had been to the HARLIN place earlier in the afternoon and inquired the route to take to the PEDEN place to deliver the radio and was told to go around the back way. Arnold said that he went around the back way and found the road impassable. He said that PEDEN told him that it would be alright to go back and go thru HARLIN's place if he was with him. They went back and had gone through one gate and PEDEN got out to open another one, he started the open the gate and HARLIN who had arrived there pushed it closed,. PEDEN then made another attempt to open the gate and HARLIN drew a .38 calibre pistol from his right hip overalls pocket and fired at PEDEN's head, the bullet struck PEDEN on the left side of the head. "Hearing the shot Clarence ALBANY came to the scene and assisted ARNOLD to carry the wounded man to the HARLIN home. ARNOLD then went thru the gate to the PEDEN home and returned, and with ALBANY placed the wounded man in the car and took him to Tompkinsville, a distance of nine miles for medical treatment. He died this morning at Tompkinsville. "Mr Arnold said this morning that there was "absolutely no occasion for the shooting." "It is said that PEDEN had sued HARLIN in the Monroe courts and had been granted permission by the courts to pass through HARLIN's farm to get to his place. "HARLIN was arrested last night by Sheriff Fred EVANS of Monroe County and remained in custody of the officers. "Mr PEDEN is survived by his wife and several children and his father. "Burial and funeral arrangements have not been announced."
