Good morning, I think. The germs of the territory have me slightly down today and I'm going to be quiet after posting some obits. As of today, I'm removing the offer of sharing the index of the Stockton book, Circuit Court 9, Indian Creek 2 ... they're coming off my system. So if you want to see any, yell today! Happy Valentine's Day tomorrow to all of you! Sandi SCKY Links: http://www.public.asu.edu/~moore/Gorin.html GGP: http://ggpublishing.tripod.com/

We know that the ages on census records can range all over the place and that people fudged on their ages, that's a given. But the following link saves our brain from doing basic subtraction (gets harder the older we get!) .... it's a neat chart that you can print off and take with you! Sandi suggests I send the following "site" to you folks. It is a list of Rev War Pensions. If you have a "Pension Paper" not listed there is a provision to add to this site. It has been helpful to my research. Lee Hash Culpeper, Va _http://southerncampaign.org/pen_ (http://southerncampaign.org/pen)
William BAKER, VA S12,967. Appeared Aug 1832, then age 69. Enlisted in 1779 under Capt Barnes MARCHAM. Rendezvoused at Ashtuns below Warwick on the James River. Then to Petersburg, then to Cabin Point where he joined the army commanded by Barton STUBEN. Then to Smithfield, then to Macky's Mills. Thinks Thomas BOWLIN commanded the regiment. Fom their back to Smithfield, on to Petersburgh and was discharged. Served 2 months. Same year, militia was called out, nearly all in Chesterfield. Went under same Capt, thinks Robert GOOD was the Col. Went on north side of James River to Bottoms Bridge near Williamsburg. British lay about Norfolk on Hampton, when their fleet left there they were discharged. On duty about 6 weeks. 3rd tour was in 1781 under Capt MOSEBY; he went as a substitute for Duby Ellmus WOOD, served some on his own account. Joined army in South Hampson?. Enemy on land pursued them; retreated to Pittsburg and had a battle. Enemy was commanded by PHILIP and ARNOLD. Advance guard of the British and the rear of our troops were attacked about sunrise. Firing kept up until about 12. Retreated that evening to Cheterfield Court House, crossed the James River above Richmond and joined LAFAYETTE in Richmond. Then went to a place called WIlton where troops laid in sevesral weeks and Lafayette sent 2 cannons and fired on the house where Gen PHILIPS lay sick. Col Robert GOOD got leave from Lafayette to take the militia to Cheterfield Co to watch and prevent the depredation of the enemy. Those who escape met at Young SHORT's, the Ensign was Archer WALTHAL. Joined the army again in the lower end of Hanover and marched up town Amherst, discharged. Was reared in Chesterfield Co VA, lived there until about 1805, then moved to Cumberland Co and has lived there ever since. William CHEATHAM in 1832 gave testimony that he had been acquainted with the soldier for over 50 years, lived as his neighbor in VA; served with him. Daniel TRABUE of Adair Co KY stated that he was also a neighbor in VA and served with him for about 3 months. Good morning! After having a day with frozen pipes in the house, it appears we are bracing for another storm on Thursday - nothing in comparison to what many on our list are going through! Just a few notes. Welcome always to the new subscribers who join us along the way. I hope we can be of help to you in your researching. If you have a query, please feel free to post it by sending an email to either SOUTH-CENTRAL-KENTUCKY@rootsweb.com or KYBARREN@rootsweb.com and be sure to put the name(s) of the individuals you are seeking - and hopefully the county - in the subject line. Upcoming posts to my KYRESEARCH list include: This Thursday: The First Constitution (including financial woes, disputes and the slavery issue). Next Thursday: Get Off the Road Now! (The Black Mariah) Next Thursday: Two Special Schools in Kentucky Next Thursday: Mustering Up The Courage Next Thursday: What's Ailin' You Mama? Next Thursday: Voices In The Cemetery! I have just finished a humongous book as a promise to the late Gladys Benedict Wilson of Glasgow; many of whom helped you in the past pre-email days! Gladys gave me a huge notebook about 10 years ago with perhaps 20 yrs of research on the STOCKTON family, primarily descendants of the Rev. Robert Stockton, one of the most well-known Baptist ministers and father of a large family in Barren and Metcalfe Co. She asked me to get this organized and published and I just finished it. There are 322 pages of family charts, marriages, wills, deeds, correspondence - with the majority of the pages being photocopies of the originals. Gladys also tracked the family in Cumberland Co and some back into NC and VA. She included in-depth reports on families that married into the Stockton family - HALL, GARNETT, HAYDON and other families. As always, I'll offer you the index to the book to look through - with the warning that it is 28 pages long and contains over 5,000 names! I am so thankful to Gladys and the researchers of the past who did their research the hard way - a lot of foot work, reading old microfilm, making copies on the old copy machines, walking the cemeteries. Wishing you all a great day! Sandi SCKY Links: http://www.public.asu.edu/~moore/Gorin.html GGP: http://ggpublishing.tripod.com/

Re-adjourned on 25 June 1801 with John HALL & William NEVILL present. Does anyone know whether this John Hall is the Revolutionary War veteran who turned up in Russell County, Ky, or is he the John Hall who was father of Martha Hall who married Stephen Brown in Adair County, KY? Apparently there were two of them. Alene ________________________________________________________________________ Check out the new AOL.
