    2. Hi Everyone I have just checked on te Internet a monthly fee of USD20 =R286.00 and a yearly fee of USD220 = R3136.00 The pricing can be checked out here: https://groups.io/static/pricing I guess it also depends on the exchange rate. Maybe we can start of with a Basic Plan Regards Darryl Allwright -------Original Message------- From: darryl@allwrights.co.za Date: 1/9/2020 8:39:58 PM To: rsa-ec-transkei@rootsweb.com; EC List; OFS List Subject: Re: [RSA-EC-TRANSKEI] GOOGLE GROUPS.IO Hi All I have already started the process of a new group on group.io last night. Called southafricangenealogy@groups.io Believe it or not within 1 hours we already had two new members one from the UK and one from Australia. As there is a yearly fee charged I though it better to integrate the three lists which I was admin of namely: Eastern Cape, Transkei and Orange Free State and just called it 'SOUTH AFRICAN GENEALOGY' Regarding the donations to upgrade the group to have bigger storage space I shall wait till Sunday to see how many donators are willing to donate to establish what the amount of the donation would be. Once that is done I shall be doing the integration to the new group inviting old members. I thank everyone for their comments and input which is much appreciated. Kind Regards Darryl Alllwright

Firstly an apology for sending this to the whole group, but Alison Moyra sent me a suggestion, which I tried, and I then tried to answer her via what I thought was her email address, but my message got rejected by “the system.” So with those apologies, here is the message that I sent to her. Would someone please pass it on to her. Though, “while I have your attention,” this Charles Bederson is not only a brick wall, but is only at the level of my wife’s great grandmother, so if any of you run across any this family, please let me know. Here is the message that I sent. "Alison, Thank you for your help, but I am not sure exactly who you pointed to. On FamilySearch, I entered “Charles Linton Bederson” and yes, there is a hit for a Charles Linton Bedson, but he was born in Canada. I am reasonably sure that the Charles that I am looking for was born in the UK since on his daughter Caroline’s death notice it says that although she was born in Harrismith, her Nationality was British. Sorry, I should have mentioned that in my note to this group. One of the other entries on the Family Search tree that shows up is the one that I entered several years ago - “Charles Bederson, b. bef. 1853 England, d. after 1906 South Africa, wife “Mary.” As I mentioned, I am not sure about Mary - she was a witness for Caroline’s wedding, but it is not 100% clear that she was Caroline’s mother. I think I have found a record of him on a Voter’s Roll from the OFS, but could not find a marriage record for him. The voter records don’t have a lot of information on the person, so these could possibly have been other “Charles Bedersons.” He was living in Durban when his daughter Caroline died in 1906. Obviously I am not sure of the spelling either - it could easily have changed over the years, as you well know. Thank you again for replying. If you live in SA, particularly if you live in or around Harrismith, please keep this family in mind as you do your research, and let me know if you find "a clue.” I have been in contact with the Wesleyan Methodist Church there, and as I mentioned I hired a local researcher there a couple of years ago, but she couldn’t find anything else either. “Good researching” to you. 3. HI all, I have been trying to locate the parents of Caroline Bederson (1871 Harrismith -1906 Durban), Parents Charles (bef 1853 unknown place - Scotland? - aft 1906 probably Durban) and (we think) Mary unknown. Caroline married Francis Joseph Kent (1869 Middlesex, England - 1935 Durban) in the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Harrismith on 1 January 1892. Witnesses were Charles Bederson and Mary Bederson. Even though Caroline was a minor (under 21), there was no entry in the “Consent” column. I have even hired a researcher a few years ago, but still can’t find any further information. So if any of you have run across this family, please let me know. Caroline was the grandmother of my wife, Zelma McPherson. Thank you very much. Try Family Search http://www.familysearch.org Check if Harrismith have a Town Council and ask if they have a book on the history of the settlers around the time you require and the minister Rev Rhodes from which church he belonged (must have had records) and how many other churches in Harrismith and surrounds. -----Original Message----- From: Richard Archbold <rjarchbold59@gmail.com> Sent: Tuesday, January 15, 2019 3:53 AM To: SOUTH-AFRICA-ORANGE-FREE-STATE@rootsweb.com Subject: [ZA-OFS] Re: Stinson family in Harrismith Orange Free State Is there anyone on the list that can point me at where I might find some info on their time in Harrismith. 3. I am also in the UK. I have traced some of my STUDD ancestors to Harrismith OFS, too. I would love to know more about where they lived - what sort of place it was etc in the late 1800s.
