Hi Pat, I have just been on to the Ancestry 24 Website: I can confirm that James Ronald GORDON was a sailor. He married Catherine LAMONT 2 Dec 1865.(port Elizabeth Marriages Methodist) You mentioned LAMONT: If the Alexander LAMONT buried there was born in 1 Feb 1809 and died 30 November 1864....(born Sutherlandshire Scotland)he would probably be old enough to be her father...was her sister Isabella LAMONT? I did find this...maybe the same man came out to South Africa after 1851 as he is on the 1851 census: (see LDS website) name: Alexr Lamont event type: Census event date: 1851 gender: Male age: 42 birthplace: Sutherlandshire registration district: county: Sutherland estimated birth year: 1809 film number: 1042005 Cheri -----Original Message----- From: south-africa-eastern-cape-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:south-africa-eastern-cape-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Pat Smith Sent: Tuesday, 6 November 2012 7:39 PM To: south-africa-eastern-cape@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ZA-EC] St. George's Park Cemetery, Port Elizabeth Hello Cheri, Many thanks. That's one mystery solved. It looks as though Alexander LAMONT who appears to be buried in the same plot may be related in some way to Catherine LAMONT but I still have to prove this thought. Thanks again.
