    3. Hi Antoinette, Gwyn and others It sounds grand, logging on the the LDS website (familysearch.org), and hunting down death notices in various towns for various years, but either you have super-fast internet connections, or Namibia Telecom is particularly slow today! Clearly, one has to already know the date and place of death to start using this material (browsing of individual images only - no search possibilities). For example, my grandfather (William Gray) died on 22 March 1950 in PE, but if I only had the year and not exact date, at about 2 - 10 minutes per image to download, it would take me years to 'view' all 4761 images for PE in 1950! Even when you know the exact date, it is still a hit-or-miss affair to find the image among those thousands (and opening 1950, I found that images 1 and 2 are actually for deaths in March and September 1949! - So be aware that the death notice you are looking for might not even be under the year you expect to find it!) In fact, it seems that some images just never download at all - I have been waiting half an hour for an image to come up, but all I get is a black screen with the white tools (Rotate, zoom, Save, Print etc) on the left side. Does anyone else have this problem, or is it just Namibia Telecom? It cannot be my computer software, as a few images have actually eventually materialised. Thanks Alan

    3. Hi Alan, I followed the link last night, but for Kimberley and for various years. Ultimately I was quite lucky, but every so often the screen would go blank, and I'd have to back to square 1. When I knew the year and the month - e.g. August, and there were, say, 1500 images, I typed in 900 in the image number. That brought me to approximately August, but I had to keep an eye on the page number of the image so that when the screen stopped responding, then I knew what image (page) to restart with. Once the page stopped responding, I clicked on the original link and went through the process again, and was able to pick up where I left off. Hope this makes sense!! 3. Hi Alan You are right about the slowness and frustration of searching on the LDS site, however, I have had some successes so keep plodding away. I keep a detailed record of the year and the area I am looking in and if after 15 - 20 minutes (depending on my time), it becomes clear that it is very slow and blocking some images, I make a note of where I am and log off to try again another time. Sometimes as little as a few minutes later, the same "black" image opens up with no difficulty whatsoever (?) Antoinette
