    3. Hi Karen, In your browser load maps.google.com and then in the search bar key in -25.7853, 29.336200 in 'satellite view. That should take you to the farm house on the farm Mooifontein near Middelburg, Mpumulanga.  regards -- Paul Tanner-Tremaine Hampshire, England email : eighteentwenty@btinternet.com website : www.1820Settlers.com ________________________________ From: Karen Olsen <krnlsn@gmail.com> To: south-africa-eastern-cape@rootsweb.com Sent: Saturday, 17 November 2012, 4:53 Subject: [ZA-EC] Locating farms Hi,     there was recently a discussion about farm names on the list which I followed with interest.  I recently found a doc in the National Archives that gave the number and name of the farm, Mooifontein 366, where my father, Sverre Reidar Fraser OLSEN, was born in 1895.  His parents died a few years later and are probably buried there.  It was in the Middelburg district, Mpumalanga.  I followed the links given in the previous discussion and also with the help of Google, the only farm I can find with the number 366 is called Steelpoort Park.  My question is - can I be sure that Mooifontein and Steelpoort Park are the same farms ie is the number the reliable constant?  I have found Steelpoort Park 366 on a current map. On the Chief Surveyor General site I got as far as finding a few TIF files for Steelpoort Park 366 but could not access them.  The default was to save them but there seemed to be nothing there when I tried to view them -  says "0 bytes".  The site says to contact the relevant SG office for missing /problem files.  What would be in the files?  Is it worth chasing up?  Any advice would be welcome! Thank you, Karen. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to SOUTH-AFRICA-EASTERN-CAPE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. Hi Paul, thank you for the information. That is one I had not seen before. The farm was/is in the Middelburg District, ward/wyk Se(y)lons Rivier in 1899. The Mooifontein that I have been looking at is actually in Limpopo but was in the Middelburg district too. I am making notes of all possibles until I am sure of one. Thank you! Karen.
