Hi Sybil Regarding your second question, I had the same experience with Home Affairs with them saying that the cannot do an ID number lookup for me either. But then even when I had the ID no and paid for a certificate, they never did anything. It would be from about 1919 onwards. Also, are birth certificates only available from the Dep of Home Affairs? When I approached them to try to find my grandfathers birth certificate I was told that if I didnt have his ID number they couldnt help me!. He was born approx 1875-1878 !!!!!! I would appreciate any help or advice. Many thanks in advance Kind regards Sybil Banister-Jones ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to SOUTH-AFRICA-EASTERN-CAPE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
