It was reported in the June 1978 issue of Looking Back, "In 1976 Mr HE Meyer completed his monumental survey of Port Elizabeth Street and district names, before leaving to settle in his native Germany" and that it had been resolved to publish an edited version in Looking Back. The names of suburbs and areas were dealt with in that issue and in subsequent issues the names of streets beginning with A, B and C were dealt with. In the June 1979 issue it was reported, "It has been decided to suspend the publishing in abbreviated form of Mr HE Meyer's findings on the origin of street and suburb names .. Mr Meyer feels that publication is unsatisfactory unless the information is given in full, and this would take up too much space in our journal."
