Dear Eleanor, I experienced the same frustrations, and I was informed by one of our listers several years ago, that all registers and records housed in the Rose Lane Congregational Church in Uitenhage were destroyed in a fire in the late nineteenth century. Peter
Hi Eleanor The following Photocopied NGK Registers for Uitenhage can be found at both the Pretoria and Cape Town Archives - unfortunately not great copies though. I photographed the Marriages for 1835 - 1839 but it was so tightly bound that the surnames are sometimes hard to read but if you give me the names you are looking for I will check and see if I can find anything for you. UITENHAGE Doop (Baptisms) 1817 - 1829 Doop (Baptisms) 1830 - 1840 Doop (Baptisms) 1841 - 1845 Lidmate (Members) 1817 - 1847 Huwelike (Marriages) 1817 - 1835 Huwelike (Marriages) 1835 - 1839 Best wishes Shirley On 8 December 2012 08:51, Peter Kirkman <pkirkman@worldonline.co.za> wrote: > Dear Eleanor, > > I experienced the same frustrations, and I was informed by one of our > listers several years ago, that all registers and records housed in the Rose > Lane Congregational Church in Uitenhage were destroyed in a fire in the late > nineteenth century. > > Peter > > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to SOUTH-AFRICA-EASTERN-CAPE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
