Hi Malcolm Ann is the daughter of Charles WOOD and Ann PENNY as you suspected. I have her as Anne Sarah WOOD b. Feb 1829 d. 24 Jul 1899. This info was from Margaret Harridene. Your birth date looks more accurate. Can you confirm your source for it? Take care Tessa -----Original Message----- From: Malcolm Stevens Sent: Friday, December 21, 2012 12:51 PM To: south-africa-eastern-cape@rootsweb.com Subject: [ZA-EC] Ann WOOD Dear Listers Does anybody have information on Ann Wood born 3 Feb 1828 in Grahamstown. She married Edward Wright on 7 Dec 1847 in Port Elizabeth. One record has her name as Ann Sarah Wood, another as Annie Wood. She died on 24 Jul 1899 of influenza. Being born in 1828 in Grahamstown does lend itself to her being a first generation 1820 settler however I've not tied her to any of the Woods as yet, but somehow Charles Wood and Ann Penny seem very likely parents since one of Ann Wright (Nee Wood) 's children was named Charles Penny Wright. Thank you all and a Merry Christmas and wonderful 2013 to all of you.
