    3. Hello Alan, I live in Cape Town and Mom lived in King with my 2 sisters. I was born in Bethulie and 3 months old when we moved to Aliwal North - dad a farmer -where I went to school until Std 8. I went to KHS (Kaffrarian High School for Girls) for 9 and 10 and during those 2 years Mom and the family moved to King from Aliwal. I left there for CT in '77. My roots with Henry is that his daughter Margaret was my Great Grandmother. She married Charles Baines of 16 Oak Street, just long the Road from the Masonic and had 2 sons and a daughter Doris Muriel who was my Grandmother. I had never heard that any of the other Cole family had come over, let alone to King and Mom never mentioned it, so I am assuming there was a tiff at some stage!!!! If there was, I hope they don't mind if we break the silence. -----Original Message----- From: Alan & Ann [mailto:cole@lantic.net] Sent: Monday, December 31, 2012 11:05 AM To: south-africa-eastern-cape@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ZA-EC] Henry Cole's Family Hi again, Colleen Amazing - from the Rootschat posts I thought you were probably resident in Co. Armagh but it turns out you are right here in RSA too! You are the first person I have found with an interest in the descendants of the KWT Cole's. Your Rootschat posts referred to a WILLIAM HENRY THOMAS COLE, presumably the son of HENRY COLE? How are you related? If you post some info on this list, others will probably be able to help too. Please give me a chance to organise my records. HENRY COLE is a bit of a sideline, JOSEPH COLE is my main interest. I will post links on the list and send attachments off-list. Alan

    3. Hi Colleen "I am assuming there was a tiff at some stage!!!! If there was, I hope they don't mind if we break the silence" Interesting - the plot thickens! Joseph died in 1902 & was alone in KWT for the latter part of his life. Even his wife, Christina, left him and moved to EL where she died in 1926. My father, Patrick, knew absolutely nothing about all his aunts/uncles & cousins in KWT. Somehow my G-Father, Arthur, managed to conceal that part of his life. My father thought Arthur came directly from Ireland. I only discovered the true facts when I started my genealogical adventure about 6 years ago! As I said, you are the first "family" contact I have made. It is difficult to link up after a couple of generations have passed. Alan
