    3. Hello Fellow Listers, Let me start with a wish to all out there for a successful research year ahead. As can be seen on the subject line I am looking for anyone who can help me with extracts from the book "The Scottish settler party" written by Prof J Rennie, I have been singulary unsuccessful in tracking down a copy for sale that was within my meagre budget so now I am turning to you all to ask for assistance. If any list member is a fortunate owner of a copy could you, would you, scan some pages for me? For many years now, I have been researching the 1820 RIDGARD family and have found, during the course of my research, that the similarly named REDGARD family is in fact an off shoot of the original RIDGARD family members and it is this connection that I am primarily interested in at this stage. Any assistance with this issue would be greatly appreciated. kind regards, Ray Pitt Queensland Australia [email protected]

    3. Ray, Off-line I will be sending you scans of Prof Rennie's index pages that reflect Redgard and Ridgard. If you care to select the pages you want, I will squirt them across. 3. Dear Ray, I have a copy of 1820 Settler Women by Stanley G SHUTTLEWORTH, which includes a chapter on the 1820 settler Scottish party. Page 120. A short paragraph on Elizabeth Sophia RIDGARD mentions that she married Charles RENNIE the son of Elizabeth and Peter in 1842 or 1843. They had seven children. They and the SYDEROFFs lived at Baviaanskloof. Elizabeth KEEN married Ezra RIDGARD about 1821. Two of the children were born in London before they sell South Africa. She bore him 11 children.
