With consent, much appreciated: The book "Irish Settlers to the Cape" authored by myself, Graham Brian Dickason, is shortly to be published as a facimilie copy of the original. This was first published in 1973 by A.A.Balkema, Cape Town, in their series of South African Biographical and Historical Studies. The book dealt primarily with the Irish Parties of 1820 Settlers. They were to be grouped under John Ingram from Cork; William Scanlan from Longford; Walter Synnot from Armagh and Capt. Butler from Wicklow. Small groups of English settlers, mainly from the London area, were to be joined with those settlers of William Parker of Cork, who was appointed by the Colonial Office as the overall Leader. They were first disembarked at Saldanha Bay and moved inland to their land allotments in Clanwilliam. This year, 2014, marks the 200th Anniversary of Clanwilliam and the book is published to commemorate this historic event. The book is to be published by DFSA Publishers and will retail at R200 per copy. Those interested in puchasing a copy should contact DFSA Publishers at [email protected] or alternatively write to DFSA Publishers, P.O. 1347, SEA POINT 8060 Graham Dickason
