Tessa, the DN is dated 25 May 1899 so this must be a different Sarah Ann - the dN gives her as Sarah Ann BENTLEY formerly DENNISON which usually indicates a previous marriage rather than a birth surname.     3. Thanks Tessa and Marielle So they were first cousins. It's quite a complex tree. Charles Scanlen married Mary Gardner's sister after Ann died. My g.g.grandma was Elizabeth, who caused her mother much grief and brought shame on the family!
