Hi Paul There is a book "The Early Days of the Orange Free State" edited by Karel Schoeman and it includes the "Memoirs of Grannie KIRK (1823-1906)" .In the book it mentions that the Memoirs were typed (with one finger) by her granddaughter Rita MORONEY from the original manuscript which was destroyed and the typescript is now in the Cory Library, and there is a duplicated version in the S A Library. In the book there is a note written by Karel Schoeman - bottom Pg 10. "3. I am grateful to Mrs Moroney's daughters, Mrs E. K. Burt of Pinetown and Mrs D. Zurton of Wannenburg, for permisson to publish her version of the text." I unfortunately don't have time to read through it now but you contact me offlist if you want to know more.
