    3. Hi Rowena May I please have a copy of the MARSHALL grave Kind Regards Darryl Allwright Sent via my BlackBerry from Vodacom - let your email find you! -----Original Message----- From: Rowena Nelson <[email protected]> Sender: [email protected] Date: Tue, 11 Mar 2014 23:27:22 To: <[email protected]> Reply-To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [ZA-EC] Toise River Burial Ground Greetings All Thanks to the directions from our wonderful hostess at Glencoe Guest House (KWT) and the encouragement of Gail Röthlin, we managed to find the Toise River church and burial ground. Travelling on the N6 between Stutterheim and Cathcart, take the turnoff signposted Toise onto a dirt road. As the road is about to make a 90 degree bend to the right, continue straight - the tracks are barely visible and are very overgrown, but the churchyard is just a little up ahead on the left, surrounded by pines, and, in fact, backs onto the N6. If you had continued on the main dirt road, taking the sharp bend to the right, this would have taken you between some farms, one of which has an old water wheel on it - if you see this, you know you've gone too far. The coordinates are S 32°27'54.2" E 27°22'57.4". Unfortunately, the weather, the undergrowth (mostly over waist-high!) and time were against us, so we were not able to find the grave of our family member who ought to be buried there, but we did manage to photograph a few of the gravestones in the time we had, which I'll be sending through to the eGSSA Photo Project soon, but in the meantime, the list of the legible ones we managed to photograph are as follows: ALEXANDER Isabel Louise BOTES Dina Johanna CAWTHORN Annie Charlotta & CAWTHORN Thomas ELLA Grace Mary ELS Obed N. EVENS Fannie Amelia JAMES Burton Hayward JAMES Ethel JAMES Hannah JAMES J.I. JAMES Percival Cedric JAMES William Irvine JOHNSTON George JOUBERT Johannes Jacobus Jannie KELLY Agnes Newsam Ella KELLY Fraser MARSHALL Cecilia Jane PHILIPPS Esme Winifred & ELLA Alfred Newsam PUSEY Maria (Polly) SHEARD Florence Mary SHEARD Henry Newton & SHEARD Charlotte Letitia Kind regards Rowena ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
