What makes it all so confusing is that there were/are at least 4 William Carey HOBSONs. Important to consider is that of the two HOBSON brothers who came out as 1820 Settlers in William Smith's party, the younger of the brothers was the original William Carey (who married Susannah BONNIN). His elder brother David, married to Mary Ann ROBINSON, named his 5th child after his younger brother, so that introduced another William Carey HOBSON. This William Carey had two marriages: Firstly to Elizabeth ROBERTS (by whom he had 8 children, including Sara Maria (Minnie), who married William George CAWOOD. This latter couple has also been the subject of recent dialogue on the list). Secondly to Nancy Anne COOPER. If my notes are correct, there was no issue, but I could be proved wrong on this point. Maybe a few of the 8 were hers? However, I would be surprised. I should stress that I am not a HOBSON researcher, (apart from cementing my own descent from and connection to that family). I have however assembled a bit of HOBSON data and odd notes along the way. Where are the true blue HOBSON researchers when we need them to confirm all this? Is Joan HOPE still out there?
