    3. My grandmother Maria Magdalena Gertruida van der Mescht was born around 1896 and would imagine in Willowmore as I know her parents lived there as they raised my mother when Maria died in 1931. I am looking for a baptism record for her. Can anyone steer me in the right direction of where to look. Kind regards Patty

    3. Dear Patty At GISA in Stellenbosch is an index of Cape DRC baptismals for the period 1856-1898. They also have microfilms of the baptismals registers.     3. Registration of the birth should be recorded at the Cape Archives so perhaps they could be of assistance with that? My husband found his grandmother's birth record in large handwritten volumes that are kept at the archives. As far as the baptism record goes, do you know what church they would have attended? (presume Dutch Reformed?) Do you know her exact date of birth or can you calculate the approximate date from her date of death?     3. Her death was 23 Oct 1931, 35 years so that would make her birth year 1896. I would imagine that they were Dutch Reformed.
