(I have more dates etc if these look like a fit.) (I know that the Sumner family was friendly with the Edwards family. They also intermarry in the 1880s. Hi Irene Thanks for that. I suppose it is possible for a 16 year old to father a child!! I, too, have Alfred Stephen (b. 6 Mar 1870) in my tree, and did wonder about him being the father. I'd love to get some proof of it though. I can't find a marriage record showing his marriage to an Anna Elizabeth - if I could find that, it might be the proof needed!
