His parents were Father:Alfred Stephen EDWARDS born 29 July 1833 in Fort Beaufort died 19 April 1870 (the same year his son was born, the last of five siblings - other sibling names avail if you want them, but I have no spouses or offspring) Mother: Rhoda KING b 15 Aug 1836 ;d 1 Sep 1937, Frere Hosp EL (Rhoda married again after those 5 children, to John THOMPSON.) I have more ancestor info on these people but not the offspring info you have. But the dates look rational for the younger Alfred Stephen EDWARDS I have, to possibly be the father of your Cecil James EDWARDS To link the ones I have back to 1820 settlers: My Alfred Stephen Edwards the elder one was the son of James EDWARDS and wife Ann THOMAS, 1820 settlers. & Rhoda KING was the daughter of Joseph KING (Jr) b 9 Aug 1808 and wife Ann BRADLEY both 1820 settlers. (I have more dates etc if these look like a fit.) (I know that the Sumner family was friendly with the Edwards family. They also intermarry in the 1880s. Methodist and Anglican church events both were common for those two families.) PLEASE... LET ME KNOW IF YOU THINK THIS IS A LINK? 3. Hi Irene Thanks for that. I suppose it is possible for a 16 year old to father a child!! I, too, have Alfred Stephen (b. 6 Mar 1870) in my tree, and did wonder about him being the father. I'd love to get some proof of it though. I can't find a marriage record showing his marriage to an Anna Elizabeth - if I could find that, it might be the proof needed!
