    1. [ZA-EC] Settler Update

    3. I am going to London tomorrow and will hopefully be able to photograph the Grahamstown Journal from 1864-1870 (there may be gaps). This is quite well timed, as I have just finished going through the 1820 settlers to see if there are any more files I can add to the Extra Info section, as more original registers become accessible. Files have been added for John ADDEY http://www.eggsa.org/1820-settlers/index.php/additional-information/a-surnames/1972-addey-john-extra-data George ASHBROOK http://www.eggsa.org/1820-settlers/index.php/additional-information/a-surnames/1973-ashbrook-george-extra-data Thomas BAKER (Bradshaw's Party) http://www.eggsa.org/1820-settlers/index.php/additional-information/b-surnames/1974-baker-thomas-extra-data Thomas BEARDMORE http://www.eggsa.org/1820-settlers/index.php/additional-information/b-surnames/1975-beardmore-thomas-extra-data The South African Settlers site and many online trees have Thomas BEARDMORE baptised in Charterhouse Chapel in 1773, but this Thomas was the son of the Rev Samuel BERDMORE, the Master of Charterhouse School, and went to Cambridge and was then admitted to Lincoln's Inn, so he is not the 1820 settler James EKRON http://www.eggsa.org/1820-settlers/index.php/additional-information/e-surnames/1976-ekron-james-extra-data William NEWTH http://www.eggsa.org/1820-settlers/index.php/additional-information/n-surnames/1978-newth-william-extra-data Several online sources say William NEWTH Junior was killed by the Xhosa in 1845. He is not mentioned in Morse Jones' list of those killed in the Frontier Wars and his CMR Service Record shows that he was still alive when he was discharged in 1850.
