Hi All I am working on the BOUCHER family(ies) at the moment and have a question based on the following birth certificate for Maclear (1895): Entry #87 Father: Charles BOUCHER, English, 30, born Ft. Beaufort, Farmer Mother: Anne Catherine COETSER, Dutch, 22, born Tarka Stad, Housewife Child: No Name Male BOUCHER Born: 11/4/1895 Date of Marriage: 4/18/1892 Other Children: 1 daughter (living) Residence: Kenelm Witness: Catherine KLEINHANS It would appear that these are the graves of the parents, in Ugie: Charles: http://www.eggsa.org/library/main.php?g2_itemId=1754346 Anne: http://www.eggsa.org/library/main.php?g2_itemId=1754343 My question relates to Charles BOUCHER. Does anyone out there have proof that this Charles was the son of John and Susannah (nee STRATFORD) BOUCHER, who had 13 children in the 1850s, 1860s and 1870s, one of whom was named Charles? By the way, apart from the above-mentioned son and daughter, they had at least one other son, Thomas, who died of blackwater fever in Tanzania on 28 Jan 1918, aged 21, as per http://www.everymanremembered.org/profiles/soldier/897891/ and http://www.southafricawargraves.org/search/print.php?id=2318. Any other info that can link this Charles BOUCHER (or his possible father, John) to the 1820 Settler BOUCHER brothers who came out with Pigot's Party would be greatly appreciated. (I have heard that John may have been a nephew of the Settler brothers.) Regards Mike Wright www.albany1820.com
Hi Mike, I think this Charles, b 1865 in Fort Beaufort, was the son of Richard b 1839 and Mary Ann // b 1849 m 2.5.1865 Winterberg.Richard was 7th child of Richard b 1799 East Garston Berkshire, 1820 Settler in Pigot's party who married Charlotte // b c.1803 married in Grahamstown 26 Nov 1823. I was also trying to sort them all out a couple of weeks ago, and am waiting on a few confirmers before publishing to the web. John who married Susanna Straford was son of Aaron, brother to the Pigot party Bouchers. -- Paul Tanner-Tremaine Hampshire, England email : eighteentwenty@btinternet.com website : www.1820Settlers.com On Tuesday, 7 July 2015, 12:53, Mike Wright via <south-africa-eastern-cape@rootsweb.com> wrote: Hi All I am working on the BOUCHER family(ies) at the moment and have a question based on the following birth certificate for Maclear (1895): Entry #87 Father: Charles BOUCHER, English, 30, born Ft.
