Hi Pat & Yvonne, The BROWNs (and hence indirectly to you Pat) are definitely closely linked but the spelling was TROLLIP, I know that spelling often changed but unless we can find at least one person with your spelling, Yvonne, who is definitely coupled to ours it will be problematic melding the families. I have 86 TROLLIPs in my database, but no Harolds. Let's hope someone else has a definite link.. Have just been trying to fit the TROLLOPEs into the picture. I cannot find them listed under 1820 settlers names, nor any of the pre- or post- settlers either. Also looking at Paul T-Ts site and although he has TROLLIP and TROLLOPE families the latter are all descended from one of two TROLLIPs who changed their name to TROLLOPE. Whether this would include all the TROLLOPEs in SA or not I cannot tell but I would be very interested in trying to track them all back to a common ancestor. It would certainly help if Yvonne could give us any additional info on her g-father eg. full names, date of birth, spouse, siblings etc. Paddy On 16 August 2015 at 09:38, Pat Brown <mistyhaven@gmail.com> wrote: > Hi Pat & Yvonne, > The BROWNs (and hence indirectly to you Pat) are definitely closely > linked but the spelling was TROLLIP, I know that spelling often changed but > unless we can find at least one person with your spelling, Yvonne, who is > definitely coupled to ours it will be problematic melding the families. Hello TROLLIP aficionados I have a 10 000 plus database of South African TROLLIPs, so feel free to ask any TROLLIP related questions. I am always on the look-out for more Afrikaans TROLLIPs, as they have been less rigorously documented.. All the South African TROLLIPS/TROLLOPES/TROLLOPS are related. There is a smaller branch arising from William Lambert TROLLIP b. 1826 who is potentially unrelated but he comes from the same area of England as Joseph TROLLIP, the South African progenitor. To help Yvonne, we must first give her relatives their correct names. Harold would be found on most family trees as Stephen Harold TROLLIP. Yvonne's father's full name is John Samuel Glen TROLLIP. If Pat could send me Yvonne's email address off-List I would be happy to contact her and offer what assistance I can.
