Hi fellow Listers: I avidly read most of what is listed but I haven't asked a question for a couple of years so I've forgotten what to do. Please: My great grandfather, Thomas Holland, died in 1893, and was apparently a sheriff for a while. He married Mary Frances Thornhill, who was b. 1839, Cape Colony; d. Jul 5 1911 in Grahamstown. Their daughter, Mary Louise Holland, b. 7.11.1875, m. Sidney Godwin, c. 1903/4, and died 1947: we don't know the date (I remember my Dad reading out a telegram to my mum), or even whether she died in S. Africa - some rumours have it that she lived out her final years in Paris! The question is: can anyone help us find anything about Thomas Holland, given that I can supply almost no information. So frustrating that we know a fair bit about Mary Frances Thornhill (nee Holland) but nothing about her husband Thomas. Many thanks for any information.
