I am the son of the late Norman James Fowler. My sister recently came across an article on the internet with regards to my late father and grandfather. I'm keen to know when his surname became double-barrel? First name Mitford must indicate that he's from the Miles BOWKER clan. Hi Fay, I know this has nothing to do with William Thornhill Gilfillan, but it may be that you can help re Frances M Gilfillan and Valerie Gilfillan? I know that at some point there was a Gilfillan family living in a place just outside East London, called Wilsonia. My mother's family lived there too. The families knew each other. In my grandmothers papers is a carbon copy of a typed-out poem called "For the Animals" by Frances M Gilfillan. And in my mothers papers is an original copy of "Wilsonia Revue in Ye Olde Barne" - a programme of the songs, dancing and short plays put on to raise funds for a local entertainment group which gave hospitality to sailors and airmen far from home. Second in the programme is a Valerie Gilfillan singing "O, Mr Man in The Moon." Neither of these things are helpful with ancestor research, but if there are any Gilfillan descendents who would like to have copies of these I'm happy to scan them in and send them. Also, my mothers photographs of her school days might include Valerie Gilfillan. I just wouldn't know, so many of the girls are un-named - but a descendent might. Apologies for intruding on your email exchange. Hello Rose I have a feeling that your BARANGWATH could maybe be BARAGWANATH. Best wishes, John John Powell
Every now and then something different keeps us going! A GREENAWAY married a WELLS, and a WELLS married a KELLAND, which is how the Greenaways arrived on my family tree. But WILLIAM HENRY GREENAWAY was not born Greenaway. His baptism record at St Paul's Aliwal North on Sunday 25th September 1887 reveals WILLIAM HENRY - "This child was found by the foster parents in a state of destitution." His "declared day of birth" is given as "Circa July 1887", so the foster parents found a baby, took him in and baptised him. The foster parents were ROBERT PHILIP & ELIZABETH ANN GREENAWAY (nee BARANGWATH) Other names mentioned on the baptism record as "sponsors" are: Ishu(?) Layer(?) REDDY, and AGNES FRANCES FRESSLER. I wonder who his real parents were :( -- Rose Kelland www.rosescountryrose.blogspot.com www.livesandtimesofbella.blogspot.com

kinderbewijs is the security given by a surviving parent for the portion of inheritance retained by him or her and belonging to the minor children. The word bewijs' means proof, and hence the term kinderbewijs' may be translated as proof of the inheritance due to a child.
