A Ronald and Catherine GORDON along with their daughter, Margaret, are buried in the cemetery but the gravestone has been broken and all that can be determined from what is left is that Catherine died aged 60 and Margaret GORDON died 21 February 1930, aged 68. I am fairly certain that Ronald GORDON is James Ronald GORDON who married Catherine LAMONT on 2 November 1865 in Port Elizabeth and the cemetery records may assist in confirming this thought. Any help would be appreciated. Pat Smith

    3. Hello Listers, Is there anyone on the list who has access to the St. George's Park Cemetery, Port Elizabeth records? A Ronald and Catherine GORDON along with their daughter, Margaret, are buried in the cemetery but the gravestone has been broken and all that can be determined from what is left is that Catherine died aged 60 and Margaret GORDON died 21 February 1930, aged 68. I am fairly certain that Ronald GORDON is James Ronald GORDON who married Catherine LAMONT on 2 November 1865 in Port Elizabeth and the cemetery records may assist in confirming this thought. Any help would be appreciated. Kind regards, Pat Smith

    3. Good morning Look on the LDS website, I found a couple of my family members deaths in PE. Go to the AFRICA records, then chose Civil deaths, then the year, then choose Port Elizabeth, from there you must scroll through all the deaths in that year. Hope you find it. 3. Tara - a huge thanks for this record, it helps to fill in some missing details for me The son referred to here is Clive Francis THORNHILL, g.g. grandson of 1820 Settler Christopher THORNHILL (Clive died on 16 Mar 1943 in a P.O.W. camp in Italy during WW2. His father was Major Herbert Clarence THORNHILL (1880-1951), he was 2nd in command of the Natal Carbineers in WW1 and farmed at "Vaalkrantz" near ladysmith. Herbert's wife and mother of Clive was Jesse Marian CARTER (1886-1951). The CARTER and THORNHILL families have lots of cross-links.
