Hi, Read thru' the late Yvonne Beck's book (page by page as there is no index) on the Cawood family I came across on p101: William George Cawood (Willie) 10.08.1876 - 21.07.1935 aged 59 years Sarah Maria Hobson (Minnie) 07.03.1878 - 21.05.1920. Birth dates are different to Moyra's. Hi Lynette As mentioned in a previous posting, I believe they have copies there (that was my understanding from my experience with trying to get a copy of my Mom's but as she was born less than 100 years ago, it was not possible). I could have misunderstood them completely. I will try and get you the name of someone to contact there to clarify the situation as to whether they can help otherwise you could try e-mailing the contact address on the NAAIRS site under the Cape archives but that could prove frustrating. Regards Antoinette Saunders (I recognise your name from the ex PE 60's, 70's FB page so I am assuming your Dad was born in the Cape) -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Lynette McWilliams Troughton Sent: Saturday, April 12, 2014 8:49 AM To: eastern-cape rootsweb Subject: Re: [ZA-EC] Willowmore This is very interesting; I had no idea there was a special volume at the Cape Archives for Birth Certificates. Hi Rod My own baptism is testimony to incorrect registers and says I was baptised before I was born or either my mother forgot when I was born which makes me younger than I actually am. My baptism says I was born a year later than I actually was. Can someone please advise how I need to go about correcting errors made on a Baptism Certificate. My aunt Edna RICE nee GEBHARDT was baptised on 2 Nov 1913 in Thaba 'nChu. The following errors were made: 1. Her dob is given as 15 Sept yet her DN, completed by her daughter gives a dob of 24 Sept 2. On the Baptism Certificate her mother is given as Mary Ann, who was her aunt. Her mother was Elizabeth Mary nee HILL. 3. The surname is spelt GEBHART instead of GEBHARDT. This is very interesting; I had no idea there was a special volume at the Cape Archives for Birth Certificates. I am trying to get my father's but the Home Affairs in Pretoria, where I applied, are not proving very helpful. Please confirm how I would go about getting a Vault Copy. I read the previous e-mails from Patti Putter who was requesting help with finding her grandmother's records (van der Mescht). I have been trying to find my grandfather's baptism (Hendrik Jacobus Moolman born 30/08/1891 in Hankey) for a long time. I thought I had struck gold with the index and followed the link provided from Linda to the Family Search site but could not find any M's in the index. Am I missing something? When trying to go through from the home page of Family Search in the normal manner, I could not find the indexes of the GISA baptism records. Can anyone help as I would like to contact GISA if I have something to go on. Antoinette Saunders Sent from MWEB Message Centre - CONNECT AND YOU CAN
Hi, Here is an excerp from the February issue of GSSA, East Cape newsletter, Chronicles: b10. George Murray ministered in Willowmore from 1869, Swellendam from 1879, Oudtshoorn from 1892, de Hoop from 1910 and Worcester from 1916. (Willowmore was named after the farm, The Willows & owner William Moore and first named Willow-Moore).
