The death has occurred of Lord LUDLOW as the result of injuries received while returning from Hertfordshire through his horse falling. - Reuter's Special Service. ------x------ MR. J.J. WHITAKER ------x------ EAST LONDON, November 10. Mr. J.J. WHITAKER head of the firm of that name, passed away quietly, if suddenly, early this morning, having been unconscious since nine o'clock last night. The deceased, who was within a month of being 82 years of age, was one of the pioneers of Kaffraria, having come to Kingwilliamstown about 1860, and he took a prominent part in the development of this part of the country, also the towns of Kingwilliamstown and East London. Through gradually becoming feeble, he had enjoyed good health until yesterday, and he invariably took a drive in the afternoon. It is with extreme regret that the death of Mr. M.A. COCKBURN, of "Cliffside," is announced. The funeral took place in Richmond, from St. Mary's Church, on Thursday, and was followed by a large number of relatives and sympathisers.
