Trying to trace more info on the Schreuders in South Africa. The family story goes that three brothers emigrated here from Germany (Hamburg), one went to Johannesburg for the gold, one to Kimberley for diamonds and one to Wellington to be a wine farmer. Abraham Johannes Gert SCHREUDER is the only name I have - the one who went to Wellington. He also built the Bainskloof Hotel which was burnt down in 1926. Then moved to Pretoria. He was nicknamed Awie (pronounced RV) and that name has been passed down. I am trying to find names of any of his other children and confirmation of his wife/s name/s as I think he may have married twice (I have a gravestone image that shows his first wife Elizabeth M JOUBERT died very young). I only have Johannes Daniel as his son. If I had names of other children I could work out if there were two moms or one, based on her date of death. Johannes Daniel SCHREUDER married Johanna Jacoba SCHEFFER (d.o Andreas Willem & Johanna Jacoba) and their children were Awie (no second name) & Andreas Willem. Hop someone has some info for me :)
