I did find Census records: 1891 Census - Falkirk Robert Greig Age 42 Stonehaven Iron Founder Clerk Agnes Greig Age 42 Forfar Jane Ann Greig Age 17 Stirling Thomas Greig Age 14 Stirling Apprentice Patternmaker Charlotte C Greig Age 13 Stirling Scholar George Greig Age 8 Stirling Scholar David Greig Age 5 Stirling Scholar In 1901 Census Robert is listed as a commercial traveller for Iron Founder In 1881 Census Robert is listed as an Iron Monger. It looks like he worked his way up in the foundry. In the 1881 Census found another child Agnes age 3 months - might have died before the 1891 Census. Thomas was not in the 1901 Census - couldn't find him. He might have gone to SA before then. If he didn't, they I did find a Thomas Greig born in Scotland about 1875 on board a ship called "High Flyer". He is listed as a Private in RMLI (Royal Marines Light Infantry.) The record doesn't say which port they were in or whether they were at sea. This was the closest records for Sarah Jane - going on birth date submitted in another post: 9 June 1882 (Ancestry24 site - photo of headstone) Sarah Jane Berry was christened in Milnrow, Lancashire 8 Dec 1882. 1891 Census - Butterworth, Rochdale, Lancashire Charles Thomas Berry Age 40 Rochdale Woollen Operative Jane Berry Age 37 Rochdale Woollen Weaver Stephen Berry Age 15 Rochdale Woollen Operative Elizabeth Berry Age 13 Rochdale Woollen Operative Sarah J Berry Age 8 Rochdale Scholar 1901 Census - Milnrow, Butterworth, Rochdale, Lancashire Charles Thomas Berry Age 51 Rochdale Woollen Drawer Jane Berry Age 49 Rochdale Stephen Berry Age 25 Rochdale Woollen Drawer Elizabeth Ann Berry Age 23 Rochdale Cotton Winder Sarah Jane Berry Age 18 Rochdale Woollen Winder The family might have worked in Ellenroad Ring Mill which was built in 1890 and is situated in Milnrow - most of it has been demolished but parts that are standing serve as a museum. Milnrow is a suburb of Rochdale which now falls under Greater Manchester.
