Hello Listers My husbands Great grandfather: . Dirk Johannes DE WITT born - 5/01/1860 - died 12/07/1943 . In a copy of his will dated 19/03/1940 he states: "It is my special will and desire that the Coat of Arms, including the Seal, of my family shall neither be sold nor pawned but on my death shall pass to my daughter Maria Elizabeth CLOETE, presently in the care of Rhodesian Timber Company, Mpindo Siding, via Bulawayo, Southern Rhodesia, and at her death shall pass to Thomas William PORTER of the Berea Fire Station, Berea, Johannesburg" Anyone else tracking the DE WITTS - anyone heard anything about the seal and coat of Arms?? Jan De WIT cam to Cape Town as John WHITE -some interesting story about the name change - but what is the story?? Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks Dianne Butcher
