The two Johns were wool dyers in Leeds. John and Jane METCALF are thought to have travelled to SA (Cape Town?) soon after 1838 and may have been accompanied by some of Jane's 5 daughters by John BELL but it is known that at least one didn't travel or returned to the UK (Caroline Bell 1832-1914, my g g grandmother) If anyone is able to shed light on this family in South Africa (or elsewhere) or offer help/advice it would be greatly appreciated.
