    3. Hi Walter Had a quick look on Ancestry.co.uk for you and didn't find any births for Thomas Kydd Greig. I only found a birth for Thomas King Greig in 1879 in Marylebone, London - but he died in 1931 in London - so definitely not your ancestor if he emigrated to SA. There are a lot of entries for Sarah Jane Berry from all over the UK. The Lion Match factory is interesting, as before WW2 there was a match factory not far down the road from us in Bootle, Liverpool. It was pulled down and now has a block of flats on the site with a monument to the match works. There is a birth for a Sarah Jane Berry in West Derby (Liverpool) in Sept 1884. But not 100% sure there isn't much to go on. They arrived in Cape, separately, in the late 19th Century or early 20th Century. They both came from Britain. Sarah was recruited to work at the Lion Match factory, in Observatory. They were married in a Roman Catholic Church, either in Woodstock or Salt River, in 1904. If anyone can help with any information, about either of them, I would be grateful. 3. Is there any chance that Thomas was Scottish? I found 3 marriages for Greig/Kydd in Scotland. I'm thinking along the lines of the son getting his mother's maiden name as a second name.
