Hi Trisha Thanks so much for your reply - yes she did but she after she got a judicial separation (we have the documents) she obviously changed her surname and the two boys born out of this marriage namely Edwin Langford and Lewis Woodward (both Baptised Coomber) back to Ashley. Both boys death certificates state surname Ashley. On my Grandfathers death certificate it states Parents: Jane Maria Ashley (born Shearer) Widow. As I live in East London my only avenue of searching is via the Internet which I have been doing for simply ages (NAAIRS, Ancestry24, Ancestry.co.za and just about every other site I can find), but have to date been unable to find any information as to when or where she died.  Our Grandfather (Edwin Langford Ashley) died in 1928 in Pretoria and she is listed on his Death Notice as parent.  She was about 69 years old at the time he died.  We presume she died somewhere between 1928 and 1958 as her other son (Lewis Woodward Ashley) Death Notice states parents deceased. Both these sons resided in the Pretoria at the time of their death.  We have tried Pretoria but have had no luck.
